My next guest shows the power of one person’s work that impacts millions of people. She is the super women behind the recent law to reimburse pet transportation costs for military families. Traveling with my pet was the biggest nightmare of my overseas military move. It caused me so many sleepless nights. But this one person and her fight was successful in building a coalition that made this win possible. Liz Hensel was born in Lima, Peru.  As an immigrant Liz grew up with a sense of patriotism which led her to enlist in the Marine Corps. Liz served on active duty for 5 years. Afterward, she joined the Marine Corps Reserves served in which she is still serving today. She owns her business, Picnics by the Lake, in Cleveland, Ohio. She is the CEO of Leave No Paws Behind USA, a non-profit dedicated in advocating for military families and their pets, which advocated having pet transportation fees included in the FY23 NDAA.

She also hosts her own podcast, Latina She Served to interview community influencers. Liz is a mother, and wife, and currently pursuing her Doctorate in Acupuncture.
